RJPN clinch deputy and mayor posts of Janakpur Sub Metropolitan City

JANAKPURDAHAM: Rastriya Janata Party Nepal has clinced the deputy and mayoral posts of Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City in the third phase of local level elections in province number 2.
RJPN candidate Lal Kishor Sah has been elected as the mayor of the Metropolis as he collected 21,277 votes while his closest competitor Nepali Congress Manoj Sah mustered 10,639 votes.Similarly, RJPN dupty mayoral candidate Rita Jha was elected as the deputy mayor of the Sub Metropolitan city. She collected 16,617 votes while her competitor received 10,109 votes.
Out of 25 wards in the Sub-Metropolitan City, RJPN has won in 12 wards, NC clinched 7 victories in ward, FSFN in 3 wards, the main opposition UML has won in 2 followed by one win for independent candidate.
After being newly elected as the Mayor of the City, Sah pleaded to make the historical and cultural city to make it clean and managed city as his first priority.
He also said Janakpurdham would be developed as the multi-cultural city.
Earlier, the people from the hilly origin were displaced during the Madehsi agitation, he said efforts will be put to make it a multi cultural city in the future.
He is the first leader to win the mayoral post of the Sub Metropolitan city in the Province 2.
Earlier, the third phase of local level elections were held in province number 2 on September 18.

PM commits all kinds of support for upcoming elections

KATHMANDU:  Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has committed to hold the upcoming federal and provincial elections on stipulated time. ‘Contractor’s negligence responsible for collapse of Jabdighat Bridge’

The government’s study panel has found that Pappu Construction — the contractor that built the Jabdighat Bridge over the Babai River in Bardiya — deviated from the design approved by the government during the construction process of the bridge, which resulted in its collapse during heavy floods on Babai River on August 21. The probe panel formed by the Department of Roads (DoR) has concluded that the contractor had not followed through on the design approved by the government during construction of the 425-metre-long bridge.
